Make sure that the .rhosts file is owned by root, has read/write permission for root, and read only for group and others, or it won't work...

I am using a Solaris 2.5.1 and i am unable to logon on the console.
When i key in say, root on the login prompt, it does not prompt me for password but instead return to the login prompt again.

I've an LPAR set up on a P690. The LPAR ran AIX v5.2. I then did an upgrade (using the migration option) to AIX v5.3.
