How to connect laptop to Unix system via Parallel port

Hi,

I have been using a computer to keep track of inventory for my business. I am pretty sure it runs on Unix. In the back of the computer there is some sort of PCI card that has about 8 RJ-11 ports on it. I use that card to connect the Unix system to my 3 VT-220 terminals. I use a simple 6 wire phone cord to connect the terminal to the system, however, when I connect the cord to the terminal, I use an adapter to plug it into that. The only ports on the back of the terminals are 3 parallel ports (atleast that's what they look like), so I use an RJ-11 to DB25 adapter to plug it into one of the three. It works fine, but what I was wondering was if I could simply just take the adapter and plug it into my laptop which runs Windows XP and use an emulation program of some sort. I have tried this before but couldn't really get it to work right. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks.
