vgersh99, your code is working but can you show me why mine did not work ?
I aslo add if diff < 600 then get the record, because I dont want to see any diff greater than 600 in there. Would you please show me how to fix my code to make it work like yours ? Thanks

I am supposed to calculate the sum of col1 1+2+3+3=9, count of col1 1,2,3,3=4, and distinct count of col1 1,2,3=c3

there is folder1\folder2\*.gz

I'd like to search $1 and if $1 is not the same as $1 in the previous row print that row and print the number of times $1 was found.
