Question CHMOD settings
Right, I'm really new to the UNIX stuff, and the main reason for posting is as follows:

I am attempting to install postnuke on the local council webserver. for web server stats search for http://www.haybridge.worcs.sch.uk here and I am being asked to change the CHMOD settings for two of the files to 666 - I am using WS_FTP Pro and there is a right click option for the files which reads:

CHMOD (unix)

Under each option there is the following:

Owner: Read Write Execute
Group: Read Write Execute
Other: Read Write Execute

which do I put checks next to to set it as 666?

help with chmod (files only)

hello, i want to chmod 444 all files in a directory, files in subdirs cannot be chmoded same goes for the subdirs themself. So using: chmod -R 444 /dir/ won't work because it will chmod the directorys and files (together with files in subdirectorys) I figured out how to chmod files... (1 Reply)

I am having trouble figuring out how to do a "chmod o-w" for all files under a certain directory, while excluding directories under that certain directory. Hi I tried to use chmod in unix to change my file's permission. chmod 701 hello.cgi And it did change my desired file's permission. Yet, the name of the file is changed to hello.cgi* . NAME

       ldbsearch - Search for records in a LDB database

SYNOPSIS

       ldbsearch [-h] [-s base|one|sub] [-b basedn] [-i] [-H LDB-URL] [expression] [attributes]

DESCRIPTION

       ldbsearch searches a LDB database for records matching the specified expression (see the ldapsearch(1) manpage for a description of the
       expression format). For each record, the specified attributes are printed.

OPTIONS

       -h
	   Show list of available options.

       -H <ldb-url>
	   LDB URL to connect to. See ldb(7) for details.

       -s one|sub|base
	   Search scope to use. One-level, subtree or base.

       -i
	   Read search expressions from stdin.

       -b basedn
	   Specify Base DN to use.

ENVIRONMENT

       LDB_URL
	   LDB URL to connect to (can be overrided by using the -H command-line option.)
