Somewhat unrelated to your question, but why are you using RedHat 5.2? That distribution is pretty old by now. I would recommend moving to 7.0 or 6.2 at least.
Now to your question: What is the crontab entry you are trying to setup? If you post the line here, we can give you more advice.

I have a couple of programs that have these commands pointed towards /usr/bin, ie, /usr/bin/echo (even though the actual 'echo' command is in /bin). I found that the same commands(sort, du, df, find, grep etc.) exists in both dir.
What is the difference to use them?
i.e: to use xpg4/bin/grep and usr/bin/grep
