One thing.
If you think that a sw package caused your box to lose telnet and ftp, then I would uninstall the sw package that you think caused the problem and then test your telnet and ftp.
This Netscape package may have disabled your telnet and ftp somehow.
I don't know SCO but I do know some networking. Do you have netstat command on your box.
Since you can ping to the box and not from the box your default gateway may not be configured.
I saw another message about a file in /etc called defaultrouter or something like that.
Check and see.

I have some AIX 4.3 machines which have disabled root telnet access.
When you run su - once logged on the machine requests a password and if one is supplied correctly it asks for another users password.
How do I configure this?

Per the title really. Looking for 16 digit numbers in various log files:
grep "\{16\}" *.log
...works, but obviously includes log lines that have longer numbers. The numbers in question can come at the beginning, middle or end of the line, hence the thread's title, which doesn't work:

Somewhat long story:
I have a simple Perl CGI script that uses Expect to Telnet to a device and grab some data, and then spits it back to Perl for display on the Webpage.
This works for many devices I've tried, but one device just fails, it keeps rejecting the password on this device, only... (1 Reply)

This package provides a command which wraps around the client side of the ftp protocol provided by package ftp to allow the retrieval of
urls using the ftp schema.
API
::ftp::geturl url
This command can be used by the generic command ::uri::geturl (See package uri) to retrieve the contents of ftp urls. Internally it
uses the commands of the package ftp to fulfill the request.
The contents of a ftp url are defined as follows:
file The contents of the specified file itself.
directory
A listing of the contents of the directory in key value notation where the file name is the key and its attributes the asso-
ciated value.
