Editing motd
Hie.
Im having a problem editing the motd ( message of the day ). I tried to edit the file /etc/motd but its end up with nothing. I find out the directory /etc/motd is in rw- r - r i changed it to executable rwxw-rw-r but having same thing no changes in the motd.
Anyone having any idea how to inform my others that Login on the days motd ( security messages ). Pls advise.

As I understand it, upon login (bash) it hits
/etc/profile
~/.bash_profile
~/.bash_login
~/.profile
I went through the scripts and the associated scripts (/etc/profile.d/*.sh) but don't see where it's being displayed... (5 Replies)

RHEL: has no default motd?
HP-UX: no motd but cat /etc/copyright in /etc/profile:

stream_socket_enable_crypto - Turns encryption on/off on an already connected socket
SYNOPSIS
mixed stream_socket_enable_crypto (resource $stream, bool $enable, [int $crypto_type], [resource $session_stream])
DESCRIPTION
Enable or disable encryption on the stream.
Once the crypto settings are established, cryptography can be turned on and off dynamically by passing TRUE or FALSE in the $enable param-
eter.
PARAMETERS
o $stream
- The stream resource.
o $enable
- Enable/disable cryptography on the stream.
o $crypto_type
- Setup encryption on the stream. Valid methods are
o STREAM_CRYPTO_METHOD_SSLv2_CLIENT
o STREAM_CRYPTO_METHOD_SSLv3_CLIENT
o STREAM_CRYPTO_METHOD_SSLv23_CLIENT
o STREAM_CRYPTO_METHOD_TLS_CLIENT
o STREAM_CRYPTO_METHOD_SSLv2_SERVER
o STREAM_CRYPTO_METHOD_SSLv3_SERVER
o STREAM_CRYPTO_METHOD_SSLv23_SERVER
