I am using the Korne shell to try and get the filename, line number and the line of text using grep e.g.
find ./ -type f -name "*.java" -exec grep -nf test.txt '{}' \;
(test.txt contains strings to search)
will return the line number and the line of text.

How can I get the size limit, i.e. 80000000 out and pass it to a variable called SIZE?

I'm trying to use grep to get the line number only. This is the command I'm using:

The output I get is:

does anybody know how i can get the line number from an entry or entries in a file ?? for example if i had a file

I know that with the -n option it prints out the line number as well.

Procedural style
SYNOPSIS
string grapheme_strstr (string $haystack, string $needle, [bool $before_needle = false])
DESCRIPTION
Returns part of haystack string from the first occurrence of needle to the end of haystack (including the needle).
PARAMETERS
o $haystack
- The input string. Must be valid UTF-8.
o $needle
- The string to look for. Must be valid UTF-8.
o $before_needle
- If TRUE, grapheme_strstr() returns the part of the haystack before the first occurrence of the needle (excluding the needle).
RETURN VALUES
Returns the portion of string, or FALSE if needle is not found.
