system restarts after shutdown!!
Hello,


from last few days my laptop is not whutting down properly.. when ever i ty to shutdown it restarts again.. what may be problem?? antivirus is updated till date.. and i use windows xp sp2....

For starters, be sure to download the latest power management drivers for your laptop. Problems with suspend and power off are often related to them. While you're at it, getting SP3 would probably be a good idea too.

We assume that Start/Shutdown offers "Shutdown" rather than "Restart". If it say "Restart" choose "Shutdown" from the pull down.

There have been some Microsoft updates recently which need a restart. Might be that?

If it is anything beyond the obvious you may be better posting on a specialist Microsoft site.
