How to boot from IDE cdrom on v240

Got two v240s I'm trying to install the latest version of Solaris 10 on. Neither will boot from a burned install DVD by simply dropping in a DVD and restarting. I got to the OK prompt and tried a boot -s cdrom but it just tried to boot off of one of the scsi drives. Did a reset-all and a probe-ide and the ATAPI cdrom shows up.

How do I set it to boot from the IDE CDROM drive?

Simply, type
Code:
ok>boot cdrom

It should boot from CDROM. If not booting, please post the error again.

Thanks,
Deepak

Problem with booting Sunfire v240 from cdrom

I have the same problem.

I've downloaded Solaris 10 dvd distibutive from Sun Microsystems, burned it and unsuccessfully tried to boot from it by 'boot cdrom -s'. But everytime I recieve error message 'Bad magic number in disk label'.

After that I've downloaded Debian for sparc64 and did the same thing with it without any problem.

Does anybody have any idea what's the problem?

I suppose the problem neither in the cd drive nor in cd-rom, but in some sort of compatibility.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

The above syntax is wrong.
To boot off from cdrom to single-user mode
ok> boot cdrom -s , NOT boot -s cdrom

To boot from cdrom directly, just as naw_deepak showed.
