amend ftp to sftp
Hi all, below is my current script
Code:
ftp -n << FTPCTRL
 open $my_ip
 user $my_user $my_pass
 ascii
 prompt off
 lcd $myDIR
 cd $ftp_cd
 $OPS $myfile
FTPCTRL

I'd like to amend it to sftp mode. Please advise the correct step.I consulted the man pages of sftp and I suppose I should be using the sftp -b option.
Code:
 sftp -b $batchfile $my_user@remotehost << FTPCTRL .. ..

what should I be storing in my batch file? I'd like to retain my use of the variables $my_user and $my_pass,$myDIR,$ftp_cd,$OPS(get or put),$my_file because they are passed in from another script

I am not very familiar with the use of FTP, and trying to run it I found out that standard "ftp" is not working" but "sftp" is. If sftp is allowed will that block ftp ? and if so where is this set ? Somebody made a policy that 'we use sftp now instead of ftp'. I have recommended we use scp because I can't for the life of me think of a *good* reason to use sftp and not scp.        ftp::geturl - Uri handler for ftp urls

SYNOPSIS

       package require Tcl  8.2

       package require ftp::geturl  ?0.2.1?

       ::ftp::geturl url

DESCRIPTION

       This  package  provides	a command which wraps around the client side of the ftp protocol provided by package ftp to allow the retrieval of
       urls using the ftp schema.

API

       ::ftp::geturl url
	      This command can be used by the generic command ::uri::geturl (See package uri) to retrieve the contents of ftp urls. Internally	it
	      uses the commands of the package ftp to fulfill the request.

	      The contents of a ftp url are defined as follows:

	      file   The contents of the specified file itself.

	      directory
		     A	listing of the contents of the directory in key value notation where the file name is the key and its attributes the asso-
		     ciated value.

	      link   The attributes of the link, including the path it refers to.
