SYNOPSIS
/etc/devices
/etc/devices/devid_cache
DESCRIPTION
The directory /etc/devices is a repository of device-related data. Files in this directory are used to preserve this information across
reboots and are created and updated as necessary by the system.
There are no administrative actions necessary with respect to files in /etc/devices. Should the contents of a file become corrupted or an
update fail, the file can simply be removed. The system re-creates the file as necessary.

I heard that if you have xinit installed on the servers you can make the servers Graphical User Interface.

Is it possible to create the CDROM device file for a drive attached to the parallel port? I have added a sun storage array from a faiulty server onto a new server and copied the md.conf files etc. I can now access the /dev/md/dsk file systems, but I want to delete some metadevices that do not exist (it still thinks the 0 and 1 (root /var /export) disk are mirrored. So I decided to set up Metadevices with Mirroring. When I patch, is it possible just to break the mirror, patch, Reboot. If all is well, then restore the mirror and resync?

I attached a tape drive to one of my partitions but i cannot find the device.
I run the command lsdev|grep rmt but i dont get anything in return.
When i run lsslot -c slot i can see the slot number and the device that belongs to the tape drive but i cannot find any rmt files in /dev.... (6 Replies)
