iir -- Intel Integrated RAID controller and ICP Vortex driver
SYNOPSIS
To compile this driver into the kernel, place the following lines in your kernel configuration file:
device pci
device scbus
device iir
Alternatively, to load the driver as a module at boot time, place the following line in loader.conf(5):
iir_load="YES"
DESCRIPTION
The iir driver claims to interface with the Intel integrated RAID controller cards, and all versions of the ICP Vortex controllers (including
FC).
HARDWARE
Controllers supported by the iir driver include:
o Intel RAID Controller SRCMR
o Intel Server RAID Controller U3-l (SRCU31a)
o Intel Server RAID Controller U3-1L (SRCU31La)
o Intel Server RAID Controller U3-2 (SRCU32)
o All past and future releases of Intel and ICP RAID Controllers.
o Intel RAID Controller SRCU21 (discontinued)
o Intel RAID Controller SRCU31 (older revision, not compatible)
o Intel RAID Controller SRCU31L (older revision, not compatible)
The SRCU31 and SRCU31L can be updated via a firmware update available from Intel.

ATARAID(4) BSD Kernel Interfaces Manual ATARAID(4)NAME
ataraid -- software BIOS RAID
SYNOPSIS
pseudo-device ataraid
ld* at ataraid? vendtype ? unit ?
DESCRIPTION
The ataraid driver provides support for BIOS-based software RAID controllers. These are devices which have some simple support for several
basic RAID levels (often RAID 0 and RAID 1), but which require software support to actually perform the RAID function. The BIOS support is
largely just to create and recognize the array so that it may be a boot device.
The driver currently supports RAID formats from:
o Adaptec HostRAID (found in Intel 6300ESB)
o Intel MatrixRAID
o JMicron RAID
o nVidia MediaShield
o Promise FastTrak
o Via V-RAID (found in many VIA-based motherboards)
Status of the logical disk as well as the disks associated with it, can be viewed through the bioctl(8) utility.
SEE ALSO ld(4), bioctl(8)HISTORY
The ataraid driver first appeared in NetBSD 2.0.
AUTHORS
The ataraid driver was originally adapted from FreeBSD by Jason Thorpe <thorpej@NetBSD.org>.
BUGS
Not all features of the software RAID are currently recognized or supported. For example, the Adaptec support doesn't recognize when a RAID
1 should be in a ``building'' state, and it does not do the right thing.
At least part of the reason for this is that the publically-available information on these formats is quite limited.

Hi,
I have a root with hardware RAID on c0t0d0 and c0t2d0. I would like to set the boot device sequence in OBP for both hdds.
I have checked in ls -l /dev/rdsk/ for the path of c0t2d0 but it does not exist. Can anyone shed some lights on this?

Hello,
I am supposed to check the RAID health of a system but when I type metastat it says "there are no existing databases"
Does this mean that there is no RAID configured at all? Is there any other utility I should try?
I know the system has two disks.

Hello,
I am using Red Hat 2.6.23.1 with RAID 6 controller (card).
(When I use "cat /proc/partitions" I do not see the separate HDDs in the RAID, I see one drive for the RAID itself, as it is considered 1 large drive.)
I used a "dd" check to test my RAID drive speed and found it was a bit slow,... (7 Replies)
