Wants to delete a file on window 2000 Pro but prompt Access Denied

Kindly give me insight to this problem that l am encountering on window 2000 professional. I want to delete a file with .dll. If l delete the file its prompt access denied.
Every option under the file attribute signify that the no deny was checked, but still l can't delete the file. Also l tried deleting the file under the dos prompt but still receive the same message.

Thanks

I believe Windows wont let you delete a .dll file if it is currently in use. Kill the process and reboot (make sure the process doesnt come up automatically). Then try to delete the .dll again.

These DLL's could be used by the Explorer.exe process itself, in which case the easiest way to get rid of them is to boot with a Win98 boot diskette and then delete from there. bootdisk.com has a fine range of bootdisks.
