Is this forum alive?

Odd thing.

I posted in the Solaris forum, new user, just asking for a bit of advice. Nothing too complicated. As of this post there have been 140 views and zero replies. So that got me thinking, is this normal? I had a look around, and I see the same thing on many other threads, and in other forums. Hundreds of views, fewer replies than there are fingers on my right hand.

Anyone care to comment?

First, note that the thread Sun Ultra 5 new user is still less than 11 hours old and was posted (from my point of view) early on a Sunday morning less than two hours after a shift from "standard" time to "daylight saving" time.

You are posting here asking for help from volunteers. If you are expecting paid staff to immediately respond to your questions, you have come to the wrong place.

I also note that there have been two responses to your post, both with suggestions that seem to be on topic. I hope that those responses did help and, if not, that you could respond to jlliagre and vbe with refinements to your original post or ask further questions based on their responses to get more detailed suggestions from others who are reading your thread.

Note also that asking what "Linux system you can load onto old Sun hardware" might turn off some volunteers who frequent a forum devoted to the Solaris operating system. Smilie

Yep, fair enough. I should have considered the time difference.

Thanks for your reply.
