A lot of sessions are like teaching "how to write a requirement 101". Diagnosing the asker's communication difficulty is the first challenge. It can be very off-putting, especially if they are mired in brand-speak. We would get better answers from better questions!

Pushed the thanks button on Ravinder's post, since it got this nice thread going. In general, think there should be more thank you's for good first posts.

We might rate original questions 1-10 for lack of ambiguity, form, clarity.

Thanks aren't mentioned in the forum rules, a search of the general forum for Thanks yields no search result, and searching FAQ's for Thanks yields no search result.

How does a newcomer find out that the polite thing to do is to press Thanks when he/she finds the information really useful? Have I missed something?
Very good points. In response, I will do the following:
  1. I'll move the Thanks button to the far left where it stands alone to make it more noticeable. (DONE)
  2. I'll add a bottom guideline to the rules asking people to use the Thanks mechanism when the see posts they like or appreciate, etc. (DONE)
  3. I'll also add a general FAQ page on this as well. (FIRST DRAFT DONE)

OK... added a new forum additional guideline "E" to the rules.

Quote:
(E) Show appreciation to other forum members for their contributions by clicking on the "Thanks" button (located at the bottom of each post) when you see excellent posts, questions and answers.
Please feel free to post your suggestions for changes or additions to the wording of "E" above.

Thanks.
