Studying but feel like not learning anything

I am trying to study this solaris OS. But each time I study, I feel like I didn't learn anything. Any suggestions?

Thanks

cjashu,

The only way to learn something about computers (at least for me) is to practice. Here is my approach: 1) Study the material, then 2) apply it.

Easy to say, difficult to do.

Cjashu,
Hi, first of all is not to give up. Try to read your lectures notes or books, and then apply the knowledge by practicing in small steps. Try to apply an iterative and incremental approach.

Best regards

Just out of curiosity, are you studying Solaris for enhancing your job prospects? If so, then you may like to be aware that that would not be the operating system that would come to mind where the job prospects are the highest.

Here's a quick (but not entirely the best) way to learn Solaris. Download Bill Calkin's red book, then look online for java tool that has provides 500 Q&A (this sh** was damn handy for me) simulation, because I guarantee you 2/3 of your exam questions will come out of there. Lucky for me, I got free voucher to take my Sun Associate exam and I had taken the course in uni so I passed. I was working in UNIX environment back then and had no time to setup Solaris separately to learn & study. Also, I was very disappointed when I went for the exam, because the questions had blatant typo and grammar errors, not to mention the software lagged and my precious minutes were wasted. I was kind of dishearten after that and didn't pursue Solaris Admin.
