Isn't the world scheduled to end right about now?
I haven't had the news on today. I hope I didn't miss it.

Yeah at 6:00 pm local time sweeping across the world time zone by time zone. But it's not clear to me if daylight savings time counts so it might actually be 7:00 pm in the Eastern Time zone where we both live.

I think it'll end with an experiment gone wrong... or right.
Some mega-powerful gravity-wave machine or something along those lines.

It would suck if it ends like in The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.

Although, if we survive 100-200 more years, I believe we'll be colonizing the Moon and Mars and such. (ha! And such... not much else, is there? Maybe Venus?)

Venus is doubtful. We can't even build a robot that could last a full hour there. But Jupiter's moons might present some options....

I think it might be easier to live under the ocean in vast (yet created) undersea ocean habitats than colonize outer space, unless astronomers discover a planet or moon suitable for human habitation. Undersea can be very beautiful and it could be made sustainable giving the proper research, development and funding. Space gets a lot of funding and attention because of the influence of national militarism. Yet, the ocean is vast and beautiful (and full of life and interesting creatures!) and the more time spent in the marine environment, the more interesting it becomes.
