Should We Disable User Profile Visitor Messages?

I don't think the visitor message feature for user profiles are useful. We mostly get questions that should be in the main forums.

Let's vote on it !

would be a nice feature if it wouldn't be missused all the time... so i vote for "disable". but i don't think the mod and admin vote should count here that much... the "normal" users might use this in the way it is meant and only we get questions?!

I voted no, but I think vbe should have the final say, as he possibly does most to moderate them Smilie

edit: changed my vote

All I see in them is stuff that doesn't belong there. Things that should be thread replies, things they should've PMed me, things that should be new threads, or things that shouldn't be posted at all(which VBE has mentioned happening).

I don't really grasp what does belong there, if anything. It's possible I've missed something important they're good for but to me it just seems a solution without a problem, prone to abuse.

I'm still waiting for an example of the mysterious "proper" use of profile comments. Even the benign ones I get would've been better off posted in the thread that provoked them.
