I'm inclined to agree with you!

The gadget has other failings too, not least the lack of Flash support (although, reading about it, I'm "sympathetic" to Jobs' arguments on the subject), and a rubbish virtual (and docking) keyboard.

With Android, and with other tablets hitting, or about to hit, the market, Apple should be careful. It's not inconceivable that they could go the way of Sega and Nintendo (albeit in a different market) when the next new thing comes along.

I did purchase the iPad (as I do most electronic gadgets) on impulse (planned impulse!). Were it not for OmniFocus (a fantastic tool - if somewhat overpriced), it would doubtless be gathering dust by now!

Wow.... how times have changed since we first started this poll/thread.

I've changed by vote to a new write-in....

No, I've decided to go with one of the new Android tabs! (Neo)

In fact, the Samsung Galaxy Tab is to be released here on Oct 22nd. I may just go get one soon, or wait for Android 3.0, which is rumored to be more tab-size friendly -- since the earlier Android releases were optimized for smaller display mobiles.

I got an Eken M001 Smilie.
I payed 110€ for it (shipping included, it was 68€ + shipping + other import taxes).

It's a 7" low cost Chinese tablet with Android 1.6 (there is an active community at SlateDroid - The BIGGEST Android Tablet Forum on the Web!) and you can get a custom rom with more recent Android version.

I use it only as an e-book reader, it's not that bad for that.

I looked at three different 7" display Chinese Android tablets in Bangkok a few weeks ago. None of the models I looked at had a phone (no SIM card, GPRS, etc) and the displays looked very poor compared to my Android phone. I was not impressed and did not buy one even though the prices were only between $150 and $200 USD.

Thanks for the link to the Eken M001, BTW. It looks very similar to what I saw in Bangkok.
