Typing in Japanese language

Hi. I am running Solaris 10,HPUX 11.31 and AIX 6.1. I am trying to get my system to write in Japanese. I can choose the Japanese language for the system to display, but I cannot figure out how to write in Japanese. I have set up my system, and Mozilla (including the menu and web pages) to display Japanese. I have the language packs installed/selected for both. I have changed the keyboard setting to Japanese, but it didn't do anything. ??? I have searched Mozilla, and Unix.com, but cannot find the appropriate info I need. If someone could get me pointed in the right place, or answer in full, it would help me greatly. Thanks.

Generally you use a native Japanese input method. On Solaris 10, one such input method is ATOK12. See Chapter 4 in Solaris 10 version of the "International Language Environments Guide" (http://docs.sun.com/db/doc/806-6642) or man atok12(1).
