Question Quadruple Booting?

Dear friends,
I'm a newbie to Unix and it's variants. I have XP and Vista installed on my hard disk on the first two partitions. I have seen somewhere that there can be triple booting of XP, Vista & LInux; but how I don't know. I have read here that Linux was made from scratch by Linux Torvalds based on Minix which was based on Unix. So I was thinking if I could install a linux and FreeBSD on my hard drive. Please friends help me in this matter. Is it possible to have 4 OSes installed on a hard disk drive or just my dream. If it is possible - how? Please guide me! Please!

Thanks in advance!Smilie

ojha_riddhish,

Instead of linux sharing same drive / partition with your workstation. Why dont you try using Virtual PC /VMware and install linux from there. you can install as much as you want if your workstation is powerful. It is much easier and simplier so that your not installing OS from time to time. You can just remove the virtual OS without messing your installed XP.

Cheers!

Bug

Dear csorhand,
I have tried that many a times but my system is not so strong to meet the needs of newer operating systems. My specs are:->
AMD Athlon64 3200+ pro
Ati Radeon Xpress 200 chipset mobo
512 MB DDR RAM
80 GB Seagate HDD
I bought it in August 2006. It's quite old now.

I wanted to learn more about Unix & Linux and this can be accomplished only through using them.

Thanks for your advice. But if you know the answer to my quest please tell me, I'll take the risks.

Thanks in advance!Smilie
