cannot write to /home in Sun 5.8
What's up,guys? Here is my latest situation. We have a Sun 5.8 box at the job, and when it comes to making new users, it does not cooperate with anyone.

The reason for that is because the /home directory will not allow itself to be written to. I have tried "chmod 777 /home", and I have reinstalled the OS on the box several times, but no such luck. This really becomes a problem when our QA people try to use oracle, only to discover that the "oracle" user does not have a home directory. The installation of Oracle ends up setting up the home directory in /export/home. Does anyone have an idea of what I should do?

Never mind. /home was mounted on another file. After I "
umount" the /home directory, I was able to make new directories in it.
