Merging Non-Empty Columns within a CSV
I am trying to place all my data in a single row (order doesn't matter). Note I am a Unix novice, so please go easy on me.

Here is an example

Raw data:
row#
(1) 45 64 23
(2) 32 1 6 56
(3) 32 45

Needs to be like this:
row#
(1) 45
(2) 32
(3) 32
(4) 64
(5) 1
(6) 45
(7) 23
(8) 6
(9) 56
# 2  
Old 12-03-2008
puts them all on one line each

Code:
 sed 's/ /\n/g' test.txt

# 3  
Old 12-03-2008
That one would depend on which sed you have, for example on Solaris \n will not be recognized as a newline.

So you would have to use:

sed 's/ / \            
/g' test.txt

An alternative would be:

tr ' ' '\n' < test.txt
