Server Specs
I am a complete newbie to the realm of unix, linux, FreeBSD, etc etc so please bear with me.

I just purchased a book on FreeBSD that comes with FreeBSD 4.4 on some CDs. My first goal is just to learn FreeBSD and become familiar with it. What I would like to eventually do is run a file server for my home (which has 3 computers) using it. I may also use it as a low traffic ftp server as well.

Money is an issue so think small please.

Edit: sorry, my question is what are the specs i should look for in a machine to do all this.

Purchase any modern Intel based home PC and you will be fine. You should visit the web site of your OS (FreeBSD) and make sure their OS supports the hardware, like network, sound and video cards (or chipsets).
