hey,i use freeBSD 4.7stable, dmesg returns me a tons of info like:
ax R *Handler Int
16 aio_max R *Handler Int
17 aio_prio_delta_max R *Handler Int
18 delaytimer_max R *Handler Int
19 mq_open_max R *Handler Int
20 pagesize R *Handler Int
21 rtsig_max R *Handler Int
.........
how can i get rid of it? i searched the web but no info about that
i beg you to help, because i cant get normal dmesg to see whats are normal system messages

Not 100% sure what your asking.

If your wanting to get rid of dmesg, don't!

Read the man pages about it, it'll give you more of an idea of what its all about.

i read it, but there was no info, i also tried to find sysctl variables to change, but maybe i didin't find what i need, maybe there is another way to do.
On another FreeBSD box all is normal, it just on this machine and this problem apaered from freeBSD 4.5, so it is not depended on current version of my installed FreeBSD.


Please help.

Are you getting that output no matter how long your system is up for?
Are you experiencing any problems with your machine?

I've not seen this before either.

during the boot it showes that info too, then dmesg showes.
/var/run/mesg.boot shows all i need correctly, but i need to dmesg not to show that strange info.

I've been looking over a freebsd system that we have. It doesn't look like there's any way to clear the message buffer via sysctl, even if you invoke sysctl from c. You could bypass sysctl and clear it out, but it looks like /etc/periodic/security/700.kernelmsg is expecting you to not do this. And it should be maintaining /var/log/dmesg.today for you.

The leading lines in dmesg should not be preventing you from reading the last lines in dmesg. When you run "dmesg" just look at the trailing lines. If you really can't do that, try "dmesg | tail".

To make the lines go away, you need to start thinking about where they come from. The trick is to make them not appear in the first place. Since the lines appear on one system and not the other, the two systems are not identical. Compare them and figure out what is different.

They look like boot up debugging info of some kind. So I would start with the /boot/loader files and continue with anything involved in getting the kernel into core.

Anyway: strange dmesg format appaerd about amonth ago, cant remmember what did i do, just installed some new versions of apache etc...

now:
[root@tkzone:~]# dmesg > /root/sample
returns me that:
http://www.hot.ee/pomidor/sample
thats why i am soo confused.

I still searching how to solve that problem, so if it is not hard, post your suggestions please.
