No, supporting and accepting are not used interchangeably here.

Post the results of this command:
uname -a
so we know what Solaris version you have.

Yes sshd_config defines the acceptable ssh versions. And best practice is to use Protocol 2 only. Your sshd_config may be in /usr/local/etc.

My ssh config was not in /usr/local/etc either. but i did find it.

I see now where the protocols are defined.

I show 2, 1

which i take to mean that i support and allow both.

with this find my question has been answered.
