finding largest files (not directories)?

hello all.
i would like to be able to find the names of all files on a remote machine using ssh.

i only want the names of files, not directories

so far i'm stuck at "du -a | sort -n"

also, is it possible to write them to a file on my machine? i know how to write it to a file on that machine, and sftp them over to mine, but i just want to save time.

thank you.

try this..
Code:
find . -type f -exec du -a {} \;|sort -n

If find supports -ls on the remote system, this should be quicker:

Code:
ssh remotesystem 'find . -type f -ls | sort -n -k 7,7' > /tmp/localfile

If not:

Code:
ssh remotesystem 'find . -type f | xargs ls -l | sort -n -k 5,5' > /tmp/localfile
