WendyZ, set your printer to use 10 cpi. You can do this with the control panel on the printer. If the output is still too wide, use the "fmt" command like this:
Code:
fmt -80 textfile.txt | lp

If you are using A4 paper, the paper is a little narrower, so you might get better results with fmt -75 or something. The smaller the number, the narrower the output.

Dose Unix command can control Printer (like Fujitsu DL 6400 Pro Dot Matrix Printer) for changing font size. Why I can't use Unix command to change font size of file to print file?
The command I used I posted above.
Somebody can help me?

I can change font size from printer control panel, that is easy. But I need use unix command to control changing font size because other people use the same printer also, I don't want to effect their works. I found that I have application program to be used in Unix, it set font size cpi=17 and I can print report from printer, even though the printer set cpi=10 as default. So what command it uses to change font size, why I can't change cpi directly to print text file in Unix. Who can help me. By the way, thanks all for helping me. the commands above you suggested didn't work on my unix.
