Let try the below script,

#!/bin/ksh
export nfiles=100 #assuming 100 files in archive
export nloop=1
while [ true ]
do
if [ ${nloop} -ge ${nfiles} ]

fi
mt -f /dev/nst0 fsf $nloop;tar xvf /dev/nst0
