Text file formatting

Hi all!
I'm new in unix, and faced with some difficulties.
So I have text file f.e. "textfile" which contains rows like:
aaa

bbb

ccc

ddd

How could I format it, so the file looks like:
aaabbb
cccddd

Thanks in andvance

This smells like a homework question. What is the "real world problem" of your question, what have you have you tried so far and where are you stuck?
Post your sample script, and we'll see how we can assist.

naturally I have list with uncompressed files in different archives usung zipinfo -t
like:
filename

size

what i'm doing right now, I'm downloading this file and formatting it in excel using regular expressions.
As this data is used for report I need that filename and size would be in one row.
that's all

Code:
awk '/^$/ { next } { if (++i % 2) t=$0; else print t "\t" $0 }' file

The copy of zipinfo I have here has lots of options for getting output in different formats, none of which look like your example. Perhaps you could invoke it with different options to avoid this problem altogether?

Assuming the lines are on the odd lines (1,3,5 etc) in your file:

Code:
awk 'NR%4==1{s=$0}NR%4==3{s=s $0;print s}' file

Using sed. First remove all blank lines then join lines.
Code:
sed -e '/^$/d' file | sed -e '$!N;s/\n//'
