Copying common lines to a new file
How do i copy the common lines between 2 files to another file?
for example

file1:
asdfg
sdf
gdsf

file2:
asdfgh
asd
sdf
xcv

file3:
sdf
# 2

use the comm command - see the man page for comm.
# 3  
Old 09-12-2008
Try:

Code:
sort file1>f1
sort file2>f2
comm -21 f1 f2

# 4

jims code is quite correct but it has spaces before the digits
