Unix Forms

Hi

Im new so be gentle

Just starting out in programing and i want to try unix to see what all the fuss is about.
But right now im like a kid in a sweet shop, spoilt for choice.

Theres red hat, fedora, linux, ubuntu and thats just for starters

I've been told ubuntu is a nice environment to program in but that was from someone who has been programing for a while.

Just let me know what you think of what you use.

Thanks
&
Happy Hacking

Should I understand you have no linux installed yet?
If so start by a live CD (like knoppix...)
then once you have seen... we could discuss what is most suitable for you...

All the best

Ubuntu is a good choice for a beginner, too. The regular CD works as both a Live CD ("try before you buy") and a regular installer.

Thanks
Nope hav'nt installed it yet

I know the best way to find out what works for you is to do it yourself, but I just wanted some peoples opinions first.
Basicaly so I didnt have to install all of them one after the other
Think I will probably try ubuntu tho, seems highly used and recomended, cheers era
