this whole week /var has been going up 1% everyday
I have had this problem before were it would rocket up to 99% and bring the server down to its knees. Now one time i rebooted the server and /var went straight down to 65% but ever since its been creeping up everyday. I want to prevent it from happening again.

Search if there are any files greater than 50M and post output here...

Code:
find /var -type f -xdev -size +50000000c

If there are none reduce the size to say 10M and try again. Obtain a list of the big files under the /var filesystem.
Do you have lsof on this system? With lsof you maybe able to narrow down your search.

Code:
# find /var -type f -xdev -size +50000000c
/var/lib/mysql/mailscanner/maillog.MYD
/var/lib/mysql/mailscanner/mtalog.MYD
/var/lib/mysql/timmartin/page_stats.MYD
/var/lib/mysql/glenntoyota/page_stats.MYD
/var/lib/mysql/barts/page_stats.MYD
/var/lib/mysql/michianaautomall/vehicle_manager.MYD
/var/lib/mysql/mikeanderson/page_stats.MYD

looks like these mysql files are the biggest but Im not sure if its ok to reduce these or what. I know this server does alot of php database callups for the various websites we host.

Never worked with MySQL but Googling it shows that each of the MYD files corresponds to a table in the database...so removing them is not a good idea. Try allocating more space to /var and setup database archiving so that partition does not fillup so fast.
