UNIX for Dummies Questions & Answers

I have a data file:

abc Text Text Text Unique Text
123 Text word Line Unique Text
fgh Text data Line Unique Text
789 Text Text Line Unique Text
543 Text Text Data Unique Text

and a filter file

123
789

I want to extract out from the data file the two records that contain the keys found in the filter file.

I did some searching on the forums and found this awk script, that will find those two records, but I need for it to exclude those two records, not find them. So, that my output will be the 3 lines from my data file that don't match the filter file.

Like I said, this awk script will find the two record, not exclude them.

awk -F' ' 'NR==FNR{_[$1];next} $10 in _{print}' filter data > test

If the awk can be tweaked, or if someone has a better idea about how to do what I want, either way. Thanks.
