hi all,
is it possible in apache conf file to specify ServerName mail.* , meaning I'm trying to achieve is that when you type mail.yourdomain.com or mail.yourotherdomain.com that it opens default mail directory?

You are mixing up things:
  1. The main config file for Apache is httpd.conf.
  2. As described in the documentation on Welcome! - The Apache Software Foundation, ServerName is just for the server to identify itself.
  3. What is a defailt mail directory? On Unix/Linux usually mail is - if delivered - in the mbox of every single user. I don't know what you mean.
  4. On what OS are you running?
  5. Whatever URL your Apache is running at, you can publish any directory of your filesystem, even that, where your "default mail directory" resides. Check the <directory></directory> directives and maybe set some <Options> to get it working. There are usually helpful commented examples in the httpd.conf already.

Thank you for your answer, I didn't state my problem appropriately ... what I'm trying to achieve is this .. I have horde webmail installed at /usr/share/horde so I make <Virtualhost> entry for it document root is /usr/share/horde and ServerName is mail.mydomain.com and it works everything is fine ..now what I'd like is to make some kind of directive like mail* to read from /usr/share/horde -> meaning that when I type mail.anydomain.com that I get transfered to the same page as when I typed mail.mydomain.com .. tnx
