UNIX for Dummies Questions & Answers

Sorry for the basic question, but I have a feeling that my developers are circumventing our change control process, and I want to be able to easily keep track of the last modified date of sub-folders of the production folder.

Basically, we have this major folder PROD, and then each application has a sub-folder within it, which has sub-folders within each of them. I just need to be able to easily run a command which will spit out all of the last change dates for each subfolder.

Any help is GREATLY appreciated!

Not sure how a ls -lad looks on your system, but you can try this:

find . -type d -print| xargs -I {} ls -lda "{}"| awk '{print $(NF-1),$(NF-2), $NF}'| sort -t" " -k 2,2n -k 1,1n

direct it to a file and "diff" these files, when you take a new snap.
