Compare 2 files and output result in pop up window
Need help !
how do i compare 2 files and if there is a difference, output a massage in a pop up window?

the script meant to run using crontab.

Take a look at the diff command -- do a man diff to find out more.

As far as a pop-up window, that may be more related to the flavor of unix you are running, the server, and your desktop environment.
I cannot think of a way to make a pop-up window from a cron task, nor do I undersatnd how it would functionally happen since a cron task is a batch automated process not running on any desktop.

Computer Help needed
i'm using sun os 5.6
the system is used on semicondutor equipment.

i've a txt file which i need to check part of the content and hope to have a pop up meassage to alert the operator is the file content is not correct.

FC_constant.txt

reticle transmission : n


FC_constant.txt

reticle transmission : alert with option




output:

pop up window with message: FC error inform EAE


can someone pls advise
