Virtual Server Which One?

Hi,

Imagine I'm using SSH or TELNET to connect to one of my clustered database servers. I log in using a virtual server name not knowing which one of my two database servers i will connect to. Now the question:

If all I have is the virtual server name e.g.

SSH DavoH@gb1234QVD011Px7

and this virtual server will connect me to my primary server gb1234QDS011Px7

Is there any way I can find out which server the virtual server will connect me too before I log in...IF I DON't KNOW WHAT THE PRIMARY SERVER IS?

Scenario is thus: log on via QVD011 virtual server , it could connect to either QDS011 or QDS022. But I dont know what the primary server is and i have two different passwords on each....how can i find out through the virtual server name what the primary server is without entering in my password and revoking my id...

i hope this appears clear....cheers DavoH

i) don't use telnet to connect to anything - its a security nightmare
ii) QVD011 does not seem to be a virtual server (like in virtualisation), but some kind of load balancing technology. Without details about that nobody will be able to help you.
iii) How do the primary and the other server do differ?

Can you directly connect to QDS0[11|22]?
Does your server have some greeting screens just before you try to login?
Why do you have two different passwords?
Do you need both servers? Just try to login to both with the same password, one must be the right one and accept you.
