can anyone tell me what exactly the following UNIX notation code does cause I need to do the same in windows?

for x in webapps/sal/*.htm*
do
mv $x $x.bak
sed 's@bob@sal@g' $x.bak > $x
done

The first line loops on the list of files that match wepapps/sal/*.htm* and each filename one by one is stored in the variable called x. The next line renames the current file so that it ends with .bak. That sed line edits the file replacing any occurances of "bob" with "sal". Note that the sed line has an input file of the .bak file that we created and an output file which is the original filename. Once the sed command finishes, you have two files: the original text which is in the .bak file and the new text which is in the oroginal filename. That final "done" just completes the loop.
