How to use cut to ..... cut

Hi,

I'm trying to figure out how to use cut to get rid of piece of a string.

something like blahblahblahJ-badstuff-Jblahblah.txt

I basically want to cut out everything between the J's. Is this possible?

echo "blahblahblahJ-badstuff-Jblahblah.txt" | sed 's/J.*J//g'

blahblahblahblahblah.txt

Thanks
