Question GD library?

I've just been told that I need to install the GD library for PHP on my server, but I've got no idea how to do that or evenSmilie where I can find it so that I can download and install it.
Is it easy to do and how would I go about doing it?Smilie

By the way I believe the server is running RedHat, if that helps
Thanks

I've just checked the php.ini file and it says:
Quote:
[gd]
; Tell the jpeg decode to libjpeg warnings and try to create
; a gd image. The warning will then be displayed as notices
; disabled by default
;gd.jpeg_ignore_warning = 0
but how do I enable that?

check here

but before you proceed, do check if you already have it installed

Isn't it that GD is bundled with PHP? I have compiled-installed a number of PHP with GD enabled but I didn't recall any instance where a manual installation of GD is necessary. In fact, PHP does not recommend using a non-bundled version of GD because that may not be compatible with the interface needed.

Note: Since PHP 4.3 there is a bundled version of the GD lib. This bundled version has some additional features like alpha blending, and should be used in preference to the external library since its codebase is better maintained and more stable.
PHP: Installing/Configuring - Manual

At least for Linux, just specify the configure switch '--with-gd' is usually sufficient to get it embedded and enabled.
