There's no such thing as Linux 7.1, I guess you mean Red Hat 7.1

The installation program for red hat is pretty much straght forward? Check out Red Hat's home page and search on www.google.com for additional information

Also it would be a bít more helpful if you ask what you need help with in the installation Smilie

Also, don't forget to look at the FAQs on this website. And you can search this site for installing linux, redhat etc...

Use the search option in the upper right hand corner. You will find a great deal of information on that topic. There are many Linux users here.

linux 7.1 or redhat
red hat is very good but would recomend mandrake over it user friendly i use it at work and admin over 800 users on it and stream any ways set your bios to boot off the cdrom 1st then your harddrive and reset it will walk you though the rest of the steps

Switching from root to normal user takes me to user's home dir

Whenever i switch from root to another user, by doing su - user, it takes me to home directory of user. This is very annoying as i want to be in same dir to run different commands as root sometimes and sometimes as normal user. How to fix this? (1 Reply)

How do i change to super user then revert back to ordinary user ,using shell script?
