OpenBSD: ports

Hi there..

I'm new to openbsd, and I recently tried the ports-system..

I downloaded the ports-tree from ftp, and unpacked it in /usr/ports

Then I typed 'make search key=centericq'

I got some info about it.. but it wasn't the latest version.. the version I use at my gentoo linux box, is 4.1.7.. but the version I got info about now was something like 3.5.22 or something..

Is that the latest for *bsd, or do I have to update the ports-tree?

Sorry of this is a stupid question

According to the CSV via Web, the latest and greatest version in the ports tree is 4.6.0:

Okay.. but where do I update the ports tree?

The tree I have now, I downloaded as a tarball from ftp.sunet.se..

What was the date on the tarball?

Here is a writeup on AnonCVS at the OpenBSD site:

http://www.openbsd.org/anoncvs.html

I have used the AnonCVS method to update my ports tree in the past.

Yeah. That'll do it.

Next time I suggest that you sniff that tarball to make sure that it hasn't gone bad! Nobody likes old curdled tarballs Smilie
