UNIX for Dummies Questions & Answers

I've search the forum and came up with someone having the same issue where the power does not going to the main board. I turn the key and nothing, no lights or anything moving. I have another board put it in the same system and it works just fine. Please help, thank you in advance.

The E450s have a nifty little power cut-off switch connected to the side panel. If it is not secure, the power supply will not engage. In fact, I've had a few E450s turn off because of jarring near the racks in the data center. A good strong, push forward on the panel from the back of the machine always gets it running again.

If I understand your post correctly, you had a motherboard that did not "work". You then replaced the board -- reseating the side panel in the process -- and it worked fine. My guess would be that the first board is fine too, but the switch was not connected. Try swapping them again.

Thank you for the reply, but I already have those swiches cut off and jumped together (still works if side panels are removed, for maintenance purposes). Is there a controller chip that got corrupted or so that I can change since that I have enough tools to do that.
