How to Calculate weekly date range

Hi I have script which will run on every tuesday of the week.I have to extract data for previous week.Can you please help in this.

easiest way is prob to have script run every day with the following if included at the beginning

Code:
 if [ `date "+%a"` <> "Tue" ]; 
   then 
     echo "Not Today Josephine"
     exit
 fi
