Power music production, unix

okay, so i'm using windows right now because i produce electronic music and all my software is written for windows.

i want to get rid of microsoft's os, so i'm wondering if there is an easy way to run these windows programs on a unix system. maybe a windows emulator for x-windows or something like that?

i'll probably be using linux(suse?). does anyone want to recomend a linux(or non-linux) operating system that comes with a windows emulator or is easy to set up how i'm describing?

lastly, does anyone know of any good music production software designed for unix? this could be a synth, sequencer, sampler, anything!

any help is greatly appreciated!

okay,

For emulation try: Lindows (lindows.org) or WINE (wine.org). There is also VMWare, which is not an emulator, but a full virtual instance of another operating system.

For native Linuix software, check out www.freshmeat.net or search slashdot.org -- I seem to recall there was a discussion about music-authoring software on there last year some time.
