UNIX for Dummies Questions & Answers

Hi experts,

I am a junior linux admin with minimal knowledge of solaris. I have to know veritas vol manager for interviews. Got documentation of ver vol man for administrators (for both solaris and linux) .

which one should I study?

1. from interview success perspective
2. job requirement/industry usage..

I use to work for Veritas, now Symantec, Solaris is much more marketable and has a wide spread install base. Linux distributions have there own Logical Volume Manager, LVM. Some vendors did OEM and include a verison of VxVM with their OS, HP-UXs LVM and Windows Storage Administrator LVM. However, that was years ago and I can't speak to that now.

I do know that learning more about VxFS and VxVM on Solaris will NOT hurt you!
