Question Need help on "mt" command for Solaris

Hi,

I have two solaris servers with tape drives (HP DDS-3 4MM DAT tape drive). OS is SunOS daytona82 5.6 Generic_111446-02 sun4u sparc SUNW,Ultra-Enterprise.
I am facing strange problem, whenever I put a new tape in the tape drive and issue "mt -f /dev/rmt/0cn eom" it fails saying I/O error. However it works fine for the same tape on the other server.
Dunno why ?

Any help in resolving this issue is appreciated.

Thanks,
Sujeet

Check /dev/rmt to see if it has more than one tape drive defined (this can happen if someone did a reboot with reconfigure). If you have a 1cn device, then use it instead of 0cn OR remove all of the devices in /dev/rmt and do a reboot with reconfigure. This would leave you with just 0 devices for the tape drive.
