I know < and << are for re-direction, but never heard of <<<
What is that?
BTW is there >>>?

From the man page of bash:

Here Strings
A variant of here documents, the format is:

<<<word

The word is expanded and supplied to the command on its
standard input.

This is different from <word, where the word is the name of the file that standard input is redirected to, and <<word, where standard input is read in till word is encountered again (to put it simply). Here the 'word' is expanded (if containing * for example) and the entire expansion is fed to the command via standard input.
